Market Regime Radar on Bitcoin 4-hour with the regime ribbon and transition markers
Know whether this is a trending market before you use a trend strategy.
Most strategies work in one regime and lose money in another. A breakout approach in a range and a mean-reversion approach in a trend fail for the same reason: the regime changed and the method did not.
Market Regime Radar classifies the market continuously into four states — trending, ranging, expanding, compressing — using volatility, directional persistence and range behaviour together rather than any single measure. The current regime is shown as a labelled band, with the number of bars it has held and a stability read for whether it is settling or about to turn.
Transitions are marked on the chart at the bar where the classification changed. Because the classification uses a smoothing window, a transition can be revised while that window is open; once the window closes the mark is fixed.
5 components, grouped by where they render on your chart.
Volatility, directional persistence and range behaviour are measured together.
The combination maps to trending, ranging, expanding or compressing.
The panel shows how long the regime has held and how stable it looks.

Every TradingVAI product states plainly how it behaves as new bars arrive. This one is classified as dynamic recalculation.
Levels and structure are recalculated as new bars arrive, so drawings on the chart shift over time. This is how the tool is designed to work — it tracks the market as it evolves.
The regime classification uses a smoothing window, so the most recent classification can be revised while that window is still filling — a bar first labelled compressing can be relabelled expanding a few bars later. Once the window has passed, the label for that bar is final. The regime band you see over older history is settled; the newest few bars are provisional.
That is the idea, but the tool does not tell you how — it tells you which regime you are in. What you do with that is a strategy decision, and it depends on the method you already use.
It depends on the smoothing window, which is configurable. A short window reacts within a few bars and changes its mind more often; a longer window is slower and steadier. The default is a middle setting.
Only for the most recent few bars, while the smoothing window is still filling. Older history is settled and does not change.
